On Monday, December 1st, Paradise Police arrested Joseph Adams, the man who allegedly attacked a Paradise Police officer was taken into custody at 8:15 a.m. near Pioneer Trail and Pentz Road. The Shelter in Place advisory was lifted, and there is no longer a threat to the public.
Police officials say that the situation began on Monday at approximately 1:37 a.m., when a Paradise Police officer stopped Adams’ white Chevy van for displaying false registration tags. When informed his vehicle would be impounded, Adams fled, leading to a brief pursuit that was canceled due to heavy fog.
Police say that Adams later attacked the officer investigating a crash involving his van, leaving the officer unconscious before fleeing on foot. Police say that the officer is in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police stated that Adams, believed to be transient, was living in his van in the areas of Paradise and Magalia.
Adams was booked into Butte County Jail on multiple counts, including assault with a deadly weapon on an officer and felony evading. Paradise Police thanked the public and allied law enforcement for their assistance in the apprehension.
