The Plumas County Fire Safe Council announces the Portola Firewise Community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in partnership with the council and local agencies, invite the public to attend the second annual Portola Wildfire Preparedness Fair on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free community event will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 683 West St., and will feature local organizations, wildfire preparedness resources, educational booths, brief presentations from community partners and a free community barbecue. Organizers encourage residents to attend, connect with local agencies, ask questions and learn practical steps to prepare their homes, families and neighborhoods for wildfire.

Participating organizations include:

  • City of Portola
  • Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District
  • Plumas County Fire Safe Council
  • Plumas County Office of Emergency Services

  • Two-Way Radio Communications
  • U.S. Forest Service

Featured agency updates will be provided by representatives from the City of Portola, Portola Firewise Community, Plumas County OES, Terra Fuego and Plumas County VOAD.

Admission is free, and all community members are welcome.
