Feather River College Volleyball Player Carol Manu Earns California State Player of the Week Honors

The California Community College Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association reports that Feather River College volleyball player Carol Manu recently took statewide Player of the Week honors for Week 6. Manu joined players from San Diego Mesa and San Joaquin Delta in receiving the recognition.

FRC, the state’s No. 1 ranked team, picked up accolades for outside hitter Manu, a 6-foot sophomore from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco. Manu helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 record as she scored 65 kills, including 19 in the team’s five-set loss versus Taft College that ended the team’s 19-match win streak to open the season. Manu added 46 digs, eight blocks and five aces.

Feather River has received its third state Player of the Week award this season, the other two going to 2024 state tourney most valuable player Chloe Albiez in weeks 1 and 3.

Mesa, which rose to No. 2 in the Top 25, got the nod for middle blocker Isabella Barrios, a 5-foot, 9-inch middle blocker from Helix High in San Diego. Barrios helped the Olympians to three straight sweeps as she totaled 19 kills, hitting .545 with 16 blocks and two aces. Her .424 overall attack percentage is fourth best in the state.

Delta, the No. 3 rated team in California, received recognition for setter Paige Taylor, a 5-foot, 5-inch sophomore from Oakdale High. Taylor dished out 102 assists in two Mustangs victories as she set 59 helpers in a four-set win over Sacramento City. Taylor is the state leader in assists per set at 11.81.
