Westwood School District issued the following statement.
Dear Parents, Guardians, and School Community,
This morning, information was brought forward by students regarding a possible threat of violence at our school. Specifically, students reported a concern about a potential school shooting. Upon receiving this information, the Mrs. Silva immediately contacted law enforcement. The matter has been investigated by Lassen County Sheriff’s department and resolved.
We deeply appreciate the promptness and responsibility of the students who came forward to share this information. Their courage and willingness to speak up play a vital role in keeping our school safe.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priorities. We want to reassure families that we are taking this situation very seriously and will continue to work closely with law enforcement to monitor and address any developments.
We encourage parents and guardians to take this opportunity to remind your children that if they see or hear something concerning, they should immediately report it to a trusted adult or school staff member. Open communication and vigilance from our entire school community help ensure that Westwood remains a safe place for everyone.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Sincerely
Paula Silva
Superintendent/Principal
