A Modoc County man has been ordered to stand trial on 22 counts of child molestation, including seven counts that could result in consecutive life sentences, the district attorney’s office said.
Darrell Wood was held to answer on the charges following proceedings in Modoc County Superior Court, District Attorney Nina Salarno announced Tuesday.
Salarno credited Assistant District Attorney Richard Cotta, Modoc County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Harrison, and Alturas Police Officer Frankie Widby for their work on the case.
“This case demonstrates the Modoc County District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement partners are committed to pursuing cases that affect the safety of children in the community,” Salarno said in a statement. “Our office will always stand firm in defense of our children.”
Arraignment on information is scheduled for Oct. 20, 2025, in Modoc County Superior Court.
