Tahoe National Forest Wild Fire Update

Firefighters remain actively engaged in 20 lightning-caused fires on the Tahoe National Forest. Several of the incidents received precipitation yesterday, aiding in suppression efforts. All fires held within their footprint overnight, with no significant growth reported. Additional suppression resources were received yesterday with more ground and air resources arriving to assist today.
The Tahoe National Forest has received 1,306 lightning strikes over the past two days. Additional holdover fires may be discovered as fire personnel actively monitor conditions.
GOODYEARS – Near Goodyears Bar, Sierra County – Revised size is .59 acres due to more accurate mapping, fire contained
GLACIER – Near Glacier Lake, Nevada County – Firefighters monitoring, hiking to location
SNOW – Near Snow Mountain, Placer County – Fire out
LOCH – Near Loch Leven Lakes, south of Big Bend, Placer County – Contained at .48 acres
POPPY – Near French Meadows Reservoir, Placer County – 1/10th of an acre, in patrol status
TINKER – Near Tinker Knob off the Pacific Crest Trail, Placer County – Contained at 1/10th of an acre
CRAYCROFT – Near Lavezolla Rd., north of Downieville, Sierra County – Handline complete around fire perimeter, size last reported as .91 acre
ANDERSON – Near Tinker Knob, Soda Springs, Placer County – Contained
MILDRED – Near Mildred Ridge, south of Soda Springs, Placer County – Staffed with smoke jumpers, fire holding within perimeter
GRANITE – West of Palisades Tahoe, near the PCT, Placer County – In patrol status
DOWNIE – North of Downieville, Sierra County – Last reported as 4 acres, firefighters continue to engage in line construction
DAVES – North of Downieville, west of Gold Lake, Sierra County – Contained at .5 acre
GATES – Near French Meadows Reservoir, Placer County – In patrol status
CREEK – Off Soda Springs Road, North Fork American River, Placer County – Contained
RATTLESNAKE – Southeast of Downieville, near Wolf Creek, Sierra County – Contained at .2 acres
SALMON – South of Big Bend, near Salmon Lake, Placer County – In patrol status
