Modoc Medical Center (MMC) is expanding skilled nursing care in the region with CMS approval to continue operations at Warnerview Skilled Nursing Facility and open the new Mountain View Skilled Nursing Facility. Together, these facilities will serve up to 84 residents, addressing growing demand for quality care close to home.
- Warnerview Skilled Nursing Facility (225 W. McDowell Ave, Alturas) will continue offering 22 private rooms and 12 semi-private rooms.
- Mountain View Skilled Nursing Facility (1109 N. Nagle St, Alturas) will feature 24 semi-private rooms and 2 private bariatric rooms in a modern, state-of-the-art setting.
Ed Johnson, MMC Chief Nursing Officer, emphasized the importance of expanding local skilled nursing options to keep residents near their families while receiving top-quality care.
To support this growth, MMC plans to hire nearly 50 new employees across nursing, dietary, social services, environmental services, and activities departments. CEO Kevin Kramer highlighted the positive economic impact of these new jobs and MMC’s ongoing commitment to community investment.
This expansion is especially critical amid nationwide healthcare workforce shortages and an aging rural population. MMC remains dedicated to providing compassionate, specialized care to Modoc County and surrounding areas.
