The 2025 women’s volleyball season began Friday and the first CCCWVCA State Players of the Week features last year’s state tourney MVP in Feather River College outside hitter Chloe Albiez to go with fellow hitters in San Joaquin Delta’s Hadlee Gray and San Diego Miramar’s Madelyn Wutzke.

Albiez, who was a week #3 selection last season and helped the Golden Eagles capture the ’24 3C2A state championship, picked up where she left off as the 6-foot sophomore averaged 4.45 kills and hit .279 in four Feather River wins. Albiez added 27 digs, six blocks and three aces. She powered 20 kills in the team’s opener, a 4-set win over Sacramento City. Albiez is from Trinity High in Weaverville.

Gray, a 6-1 freshman redshirt OH who transferred to Delta from San Francisco State, averaged 5 kills and attacked at a .444 clip in Mustangs sweeps over Solano and Hartnell. She contributed nine kills and five blocks with her best performance, scoring 18 kills in the Solano triumph. Gray attended Elk Grove High.

Wutzke, a 6-0 frosh OH from El Capitan High/San Diego, was outstanding in two matches for Miramar, as she landed 21 kills and made 11 digs in a 4-set loss to Mt. San Antonio, and delivered 10 kills and passed at a 2.75 rating in the Jets sweep over Bakersfield. Like Gray, Wutzke is a 6-rotation player.
