Seneca Healthcare District was honored to welcome representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to the construction site of the future Lake Almanor Community Hospital—a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that will serve the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding rural areas for generations to come.

This visit was part of the monthly coordination meetings between the new build team, the contractor, and USDA representatives. These meetings help ensure steady progress and maintain open lines of communication as this transformative project moves forward.

The USDA has been a valuable and committed partner, providing essential financial support through their Rural Development Community Facilities Program. Their dedication to strengthening rural infrastructure has been instrumental in bringing the community’s vision to life, and we are deeply grateful for their continued collaboration and guidance.

To honor their investment, Seneca Healthcare District invited USDA representatives to take part in a special signing ceremony. Pictured from left to right, Anita Lopez, Chantal Haun, and Kaitlin Kirkland proudly signed a structural column on behalf of the entire USDA team—a symbolic gesture of unity, partnership, and shared purpose.

“USDA has been more than a funding source—they’ve been partners in helping us bring this hospital to life,” said Shawn McKenzie, CEO of Seneca Healthcare District. “This new facility will expand access to quality care, improve patient experiences, and support the health and well-being of our entire community.”

“We’re grateful to the USDA for believing in our mission and helping us build a healthier future for our region,” added Jerri Neilsen, President of the Seneca Healthcare District Board.
“This hospital and skilled nursing facility will be a cornerstone of care for families, seniors, and future generations in the Lake Almanor Basin.”

This moment not only commemorates the progress made but also celebrates the strong relationships that make projects like this possible. The new Lake Almanor Community Hospital will bring expanded services, modern facilities, and improved access to care—all designed to meet the evolving needs of our rural community.

We look forward to continuing our work with USDA and all our partners as we build a healthier, stronger future for the people we serve.
