The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and American Pavement Systems, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Lassen Lodge Preservation Project on State Route 36 in Tehama County. The $770k project will perform isolated areas of concrete dig outs and place an asphalt rubber chip seal on SR 36 west of Mineral, from Little Giant Mill Road to 0.8 mile west of Diamond Road. The removal and replacement of thermoplastic pavement markings will also be included in the project.

Construction activities are currently planned to start on Monday, August 18. Motorists should plan for one-way traffic control with up to 15-minute delays, Mondays – Fridays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for detours or slow traffic. Please note the potential for loose gravel during chip placement operations. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of September.

Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice. Caltrans and its contractors do our best to keep the public informed.
