A tragic loss last evening for the Hemphill family as a fire completely destroyed the main house where beloved Lassen county residents JD and Fran Hemphill used to reside. The blaze also damaged Jeff and Nancy Hemphills residence next door and according to an online statement from Nancy, a vehicle was lost as well.
No word on the cause of the fire, but quick action from neighbors and first responders definitely helped save additional structures.

The structure fire in the area of Hemphill Road has been extinguished. Fire crews remain on scene conducting mop-up and ensuring the area is safe.
