Feather River College Athletics offers congratulations to the Feather River College women’s indoor and beach volleyball teams for earning the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award. Both teams also earned the additional distinction of inclusion on the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, representing the top 20% of player GPAs nationally by division.
To earn the AVCA Team Academic Award, players must maintain a year-long GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
“It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom,” said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. “The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes.”
The FRC team also joins a group of eight teams nationwide that also won collegiate championships on the court and in the sand during the 2024–25 season.
The additional distinction of Team Academic Honor Roll celebrates programs with the top 20% of GPAs for their division.
Beginning this year, AVCA has begun naming a team academic champion for each collegiate division. The programs named to this exclusive list achieved the highest GPAs in their respective divisions. The FRC women’s beach team earned its place on the inaugural list as the California Community College Athletic Association champion.
More details, including lists of additional winning teams, is available from AVCA.
