PG&E Increases Water Flows for Thrilling Whitewater Weekend on North Fork Feather River

Plumas Sheriff issued the following statement;

PG&E has announced increased water flows on the Rock Creek Reach of the North Fork Feather River in the Plumas National Forest for experienced whitewater recreation this weekend, July 26-27.

Flow Schedule:

  • Saturday, July 26: 1,100 CFS from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Saturday – Sunday: 900 CFS until 2:00 PM Sunday, July 27
  • After 2:00 PM Sunday: Flows will reduce to seasonal normal (400 CFS)

Important Safety Notes:

  • These are Class III, IV, and V rapids – recommended for skilled paddlers only.
  • Tubing is NOT safe in these conditions.
  • Unseen hazards beneath swift water can be deadly.
  • PG&E strongly advises inexperienced paddlers to utilize guided trips.
  • Swimming or recreating in PG&E canals and flumes is strictly prohibited due to dangerous conditions.
