As Lassen Fire Safe Council, Inc. enters a new fiscal year, we are pleased to announce the selection of initial project funding for the LFSC Community Fund for 2025-2026. A formal announcement detailing the projects will be made within the next week, with some hints available in the accompanying photos.

The establishment of the LFSC Community Fund, which utilizes a portion of the PG&E Dixie Fire Settlement funds, has been a long-term goal for our Board. In our inaugural effort last year, the Community Fund awarded $2,000 to each of the fifteen fire departments serving Lassen County. Additionally, thirteen Firewise communities received $500 gift cards to purchase supplies for their initiatives. We also provided logos, pop-up tents, and chairs to any Firewise communities that requested them to support their community events.

As we embark on our second year of funding projects, we are gaining clarity on the needs within our community and volunteer fire departments that align with our mission.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Community Fund Committee Chair Chevi Chevi for her dedication, along with committee members Lawrence Crabtree and Jonathon Sims, and advising Board members Deb Bumpus and Kam Vento for their hard work. Jonathon’s experience as a volunteer firefighter has been invaluable in understanding the needs of volunteer fire departments, while Lawrence, Deb, and Kam have identified needs within related sectors. We appreciate the guidance and recommendations from all committee members.

Stay tuned for the exciting news to come. We look forward to sharing it with our community!
