CHP K-9 Unit Uncovers Massive Marijuana and Cash Haul on I-5

A routine traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Merced County led to a substantial seizure of marijuana and cash by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on January 25, 2025.
According to the CHP, a Central Division K-9 officer pulled over a 2023 Chrysler van near Santa Nella Road. The K-9 officer’s trained dog, Shei, alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting a search of the vehicle.
The search yielded 100 pounds of processed marijuana and $160,000 in cash. The driver, 38-year-old Mei Xiancong of Los Angeles, was arrested and charged with possession and transportation of marijuana for sale.
The case against Mei Xiancong is ongoing.
