Eastern Plumas Wildfire Protection Project Underway in Grizzly Ranch and Iron Horse Areas

The Plumas Fire Safe Council reports that operations began last week as part of the Eastern Plumas Wildfire Protection Project. Residents may have noticed equipment activity east of the golf course and on the west slope of Turner Ridge. Due to the dry and dusty conditions, officials caution that machinery is stirring up large clouds of dust, which could be mistaken for smoke.

In addition to the work in Grizzly Ranch, operations are also active in the Iron Horse area, located off County Road A-15. Next week, log trucks will begin hauling timber to Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI).

As a Safety reminder, the Fire Safe Council advises you to stay clear of all equipment during operations. If walking near an active unit, please keep dogs on a leash to ensure safety.

This project is part of broader efforts to reduce wildfire risk and protect communities in the region.
