12pm Update 7/24/23:
Just in, two suspects on the loose as two separate incidents of gun violence unfolded in Susanville. The first incident occurred just before 5am Sunday, when officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to shots fired at The Frontier Inn on Main Street. They discovered a 48-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. Rushed to an out-of-area hospital, the victim remains in critical condition. The police are conducting interviews and securing the area, but a suspect has not been positively identified yet.
Later Sunday, around 7pm, another report of shots fired led officers to the parking lot area of Burger King on Main Street, where they found a 36-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his lower body. The victim received help from restaurant patrons before medical units arrived. The suspect had fled the scene in a blue, 4-door vehicle.
Investigators have confirmed that the two incidents are unrelated. Despite the victims knowing their assailants, they have not cooperated with the authorities, hindering the identification of the suspects.
