A new planning commission board member is to be appointed during the Lassen board of supervisors meeting. Two applicants are in consideration for the one vacancy falling under District 5.

Jeff Askew is a current clerk on the Ravendale Termo Elementary school board. According to his application to the planning commission, his qualifications include agriculture and land use knowledge.

A second applicant, Curtis Ellis says, has served on numerous boards, including the Little League and the California Prune Board. He wishes to serve to “establish a positive unbiased future for the county and its communities”.
The appointed applicant will serve a four-year term, expiring at the end of March in 2027.

This morning the supervisors will also review an ordinance to repeal a county Code on Firearm and Bow and arrow restrictions in the Hayden Hill – Silva Flat Game Refuge.

An update on renovations to the Historic courthouse is also on the agenda. The supervisors are asked to sign an agreement with a contractor out of Chico for nearly 6 million dollars to complete the Tenant improvements phase of the project, which would complete phase one of three. This would allow for the courthouse to be repopulated.

A full agenda can be found on the county’s website. The supervisors meet at their chambers on Nevada street in Susanville at 9 am.
