USDA Cuts Over 145 DEI Programs to Save $148.6 Million and Focus on Farmers

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced the termination of over 145 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) focused awards by the United States Department of Agriculture, resulting in potential savings of up to $148.6 million.

Rollins stated, “Putting American Farmers First means cutting the millions of dollars that are being wasted on woke DEI propaganda.” He emphasized efforts to end waste and restore fiscal responsibility to the department under President Trump’s leadership.

Some of the terminated programs include:

  • Educating and engaging socially disadvantaged farmers on conservation practices: $575,251
  • Creating a new model for urban forestry to promote environmental justice through more equitably distributed green spaces: $192,246

 

  • Expanding equitable access to land, capital, and market opportunities for underserved producers in the Bay Area: $2,500,000
