Sifting Kits Available for Fawn Fire Survivors;
Local Assistance Center to open
Shasta County – As residents return to their homes following the Fawn Fire, kits for sifting and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be available for pick up tomorrow, Sept. 30, from 9 am to 4 pm at the intersection of Old Oregon Trail and Bear Mountain Road near Tierra Oaks Golf Club.
It is very important to note that as you use sifting kits to recover salvageable items, be advised that if you remove fire debris from the footprint of the home’s foundation, you may be ineligible for state and federal debris removal assistance, should it become available. Fire debris MUST remain where it is.
A Local Assistance Center (LAC) is in the process of being established. Information on when and where that assistance center will be located will be announced as soon as it becomes available. The LAC is a centralized location where various humanitarian organizations and government agencies provide information on available recovery assistance resources.
