Search Warrant Service Reveals Marijuana Cultivation, Butane Honey Oil Lab, and Firearms
Synopsis:
On Wednesday, 11/03/2021, at approximately 9:00 AM, Deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) and the Department of Fish and Wildlife while serving a search warrant at a residence on the 16000 block of Emmett Lane in Anderson, CA. The investigation was regarding an outdoor marijuana cultivation site previously observed in the area.
Three adults living at the residence were contacted and detained: Paul James Corona Jr., age 36, Christian Joel Magana, age 21, and Melody Summer Corona, age 18. A juvenile also resides at the residence but will not be identified by name due to their age.
Deputies located three handguns and two AR-15 style rifles inside of the residence as well as processed marijuana in various fashions. Deputies located digital scales, various packaging materials, and concentrated cannabis (Butane Honey Oil) throughout the residence. Deputies also located processed marijuana bud. Approximately 150 actively growing marijuana plants were located in the back yard of the residence. A shed was also located in the back yard of the residence. Deputies located a functioning “Closed Loop” style BHO lab inside of the shed. The apparatus in the shed was under pressure at the time of its discovery and created a safety hazard. BHO labs are extremely dangerous and have the potential to explode if the butane gases are exposed to any ignition source. Agents with SINTF assisted in rendering the BHO lab safe and disassembling it for evidence collection. The BHO lab was located approximately 30 feet away from the juvenile’s bedroom wall at the residence.
Interviews were conducted on scene which resulted in Paul Corona and Christian Magana being placed under arrest for the following Felony charges: 11379.6(a) HS: Manufacturing a controlled substance, 12022(a)(1) PC: Armed with a firearm during the commission of a felony, 182(a)(1) PC: Conspiracy, and 273a(a) PC: Child endangerment. They were also placed under arrest for the following Misdemeanor charges: 11359(b) HS: Possession of marijuana for the purposes of sales, 11358(c) HS: Cultivation of marijuana, and Shasta County Ordinance violation 17.88.320: Outdoor cultivation of marijuana.
Paul Corona and Christian Magana were later booked at the Shasta County Jail. Melody Corona was released on scene but may be charged pending further investigation into her involvement.
