If you are 70 and older and in need of renewing your driver’s license you can renew online for only 5 more months says the Dept of Motor Vehicles. By the end of the year, the ability to renew online or by mail for your DL even if an in-person visit was stated on your notice will go away. The law requiring senior drivers 70 and over was waived in October of 2020 by Governor Gavin Newsom and then signed into legislation the next year to help seniors through the COVID pandemic. The DMV says they hope to see seniors taking advantage of this opportunity to skip the trip to the DMV. Susanville’s location on Main street continues to be closed to in-person visits through next month for renovations. Offices are accessible in Quincy, Chico.
