Richard Jue, the chief of staff of the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office, was arrested on Sunday morning for allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run collision and providing false information to police. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail at 8 a.m., with bail set at $7,500 for two alleged misdemeanors. This followed a warrant for his arrest carried out after an investigation by the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Unit, alongside a separate probe by the Internal Affairs Unit.

Jue has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. The sheriff’s office did not disclose details about the timing or location of the alleged collision, and a request for more information from the San Francisco Police Department has not yet been answered. The incident reportedly occurred while Jue was off-duty.

San Francisco Sheriff Paul Miyamoto emphasized the importance of ethical standards within the department, stating that all members are held to high professional standards and that accountability is essential, regardless of rank or role.
