SHARE NOW

Firefighters have made significant progress in containing the Green Fire in Shasta County, which has burned 19,022 acres. Currently, the fire is reported to be 82% contained, with efforts focused on reinforcing control lines around the perimeter. Surplus equipment is being removed from key locations, and crews are being transported to fire lines along Sulanharas Creek and the Pit River Arm. The Incident Command Post has been relocated to Shasta Lake to enhance efficiency.

The Mountain Gate Helicopter Base remains active, providing support for the Green Fire as well as other nearby incidents. A Temporary Flight Restriction is in effect, with pilots near Redding airport advised to remain vigilant due to helicopter operations.

Suppression repair efforts are ongoing, with 19 miles of dozer line already repaired and inspected, while another 19 miles are still in need of repair. These efforts are being coordinated with natural resource advisors.

Although smoke may still be visible, fire activity is largely limited to smoldering within the established perimeter. A warming and drying trend is anticipated, along with a chance of thunderstorms and increased lightning strikes this week.

Residents in the Green Fire Area Closure can regain access to their properties with proof of ownership or an “Access Pass” from the Green Fire Incident Base. However, access may be revoked by the Incident Commander depending on fire activity.
