Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has launched a $50 million initiative aimed at helping customers with overdue energy bills. A key feature of this initiative is the new Match My Payment Program, which provides matching bill credits of up to $1,000 for eligible low-to-moderate-income customers to help prevent service disconnections.

Under the Match My Payment Program, qualifying customers can receive dollar-for-dollar matches for their bill payments, up to $1,000 annually, until December 31, 2025. To qualify, customers must adhere to federal income guidelines, such as a family of four earning less than $128,600 annually.

Additionally, PG&E’s existing REACH program already offers up to $300 in bill credits for income-eligible customers who are facing disconnection. Customers who have received a REACH grant in 2025 are automatically pre-qualified for the Match My Payment Program, potentially allowing them to access up to $1,300 in total assistance.

Funding for these programs is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with PG&E estimating that approximately 400,000 customers may benefit from the assistance. PG&E is working with the Dollar Energy Fund to process applications and is regularly assessing funding needs to support customers.

Looking ahead, PG&E anticipates stable gas and electric rates for 2025; however, customers may experience higher bills during the summer months due to increased energy consumption. The company also offers other assistance programs, such as the California Alternate Rates for Energy Program and the Family Electric Rate Assistance Program, to further support eligible customers.
