Two deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) are facing federal charges for allegedly misusing their law enforcement authority to intimidate and harass individuals while working as security personnel. David Anthony Rodriguez, 43, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy against rights. His colleague, Christopher Michael Cadman, 33, has agreed to plead guilty to similar charges and filing a false tax return, with potential sentencing of up to 13 years.
Both deputies previously worked for Adam Iza, a cryptocurrency entrepreneur who has been in federal custody since September 2024 and has pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy against rights and wire fraud. Cadman and another LASD deputy reportedly threatened a victim during a meeting at Iza’s mansion in August 2021, leading to a $25,000 transfer to Iza. Cadman also facilitated a traffic stop that resulted in the victim’s arrest, allegedly receiving cash payments from Iza for these actions.
Cadman failed to report over $40,500 in income on his 2021 tax return and acknowledged owing approximately $11,000 in taxes. Rodriguez, in a separate incident, admitted to obtaining a search warrant under false pretenses in July 2022 to acquire GPS data from a victim’s phone for a private client. He shared this data with co-conspirators, including LASD Deputy Eric Chase Saavedra, who also pleaded guilty to similar charges.
Rodriguez is scheduled for sentencing on November 10 and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison. The case is under investigation by the FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Maxwell K. Coll.
