Congressman Doug LaMalfa is leading a charge for the California Republican Congressional delegation in sending a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom to stop the CARB rule to expedite the enforcement of all car sales by 2035 to be zero-emission vehicles. The California Air Resource Board (CARB) mandate was set in motion in August following Governor Newsoms 2020 executive order. The coalition of lawmakers is asking the Governor and CARB Chair Liane Randolph to consider alternative policies to reduce emissions that do not add additional strain to the state’s energy grid or restrictions on consumer choice. LaMalfa said he is “urging both to use common sense and halt this overreaching mandate.”
