Caltrans District 2, in partnership with Hayes & Sons, Inc., is beginning emergency slip-out repairs on Interstate 5 about one mile north of the Shasta/Siskiyou County Line near South Dunsmuir.
What to expect:
• Removal of failed material
• Placement of rock slope protection
Starting Tuesday, January 20:
• Northbound #2 lane and shoulder closed
• Monday–Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Northbound on-ramp at South Dunsmuir (Exit 729) closed
• Detour signs will be in place
• Possible weekend work
Please drive safely:
Slow down in work zones, follow posted speed reductions, and allow extra time for travel. Schedules may change due to weather or operational needs. Work is currently planned to be completed by the end of January.
