The cleanup of fire debris at Chico’s Bidwell Mansion has been delayed, with work now expected to start after the Fourth of July.
State Parks officials said the delay is due to contractor approval and availability. Initially, the cleanup was scheduled to start by the end of June.
The cleanup will involve removing debris around the outside perimeter of the brick building. This step is necessary to allow further evaluations of the building’s condition. The building was destroyed by an arson fire on December 11, 2024.
Officials clarified that there is no demolition planned for the main brick structure, and no timeline has been set for cleaning the interior.
Once the cleanup begins, it is expected to take three weeks to complete.
