Cattle producers get huge win in the house of representatives. Data to provide much-needed negotiation leverage has been signed into law to be more readily accessible. The house passed the Cattle Contract Library Act of 2021, co-sponsored by Representative Doug LaMalfa. It will provide market transparency and price discovery for cattle producers and help independent cattle producers compete with large meat packing facilities. The bill does that by amending the current law to make meat contracts publically reported and available.
