The California Highway Patrol Valley Division Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) recently led a major investigation into a sophisticated fraud and theft operation targeting The Home Depot.
The primary suspect has been linked to hundreds of incidents across California, resulting in more than $900,000 in losses. Through a coordinated, multi-agency investigation with the Sacramento Police Department and the Placer County District Attorney’s Office, several individuals involved in this organized criminal enterprise were identified.
Search warrants served from Baldwin Park to Hayward, California resulted in the recovery of $307,000 in stolen retail merchandise (returned to retailers), $59,000 in cash, and 12 firearms.
Multiple arrests have been made in connection with this ongoing investigation.
“Organized retail crime impacts not only businesses, but the communities they serve. The success of this investigation highlights the power of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and our retail partners. Together, we’re committed to holding those who engage in organized theft accountable.”
