Hadassah Almanza, a young wrestler from Fort Bidwell, CA, showcased her remarkable talent at the 2025 Reno World Championships of Wrestling, held from April 3-6 at the Reno Events Center. Competing against strong opponents from states like New York, Oklahoma, Hawaii, and Arizona, she secured an impressive fifth place at the national level.
Throughout the year, Hadassah also participated in tournaments at Modoc, Lakeview, Chester, and Fall River, achieving an undefeated season by winning all her matches. She represents the Surprise Valley Eagles based in Cedarville, CA, and is coached by Head Coach Kermit McCourt, along with Assistant Coaches Steve Smith, Spencer Smith, Jenny Kapp, Cassie Ozarzun, and Derrik Fieguth.
Her parents expressed their pride in her achievements, and Coach McCourt echoed this sentiment, highlighting the pride the team feels for her accomplishments. Competing in the 10 years and younger, 135 weight class division, Hadassah’s success is particularly noteworthy given she is only nine years old.
