The California Community College Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association has announced the top contenders for the 48th California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state women’s volleyball championship, held December 5-7 at Folsom Lake College. Defending champion Feather River College (FRC), North Region No. 3 seed, along with top seeds San Joaquin Delta (NorCal) and San Diego Mesa (SoCal), lead the field.
Feather River, ranked No. 1 in the final CCCWVCA Top 25 with a 34-1 record, seeks its fourth state title in six tournaments since 2019. Notably, FRC handed both Delta and Mesa their only 2025 losses in early nonconference sweeps. The only team to defeat Feather River this season was North No. 2 Taft (30-2), winners over FRC in five sets in September.
Five teams from last year’s eight-team field return, including 2024 runner-up Fresno City (North No. 4 seed), South No. 2 Los Angeles Mission, and the South No. 4 Cinderella story Long Beach City College Vikings, who advanced from a No. 14 seed in SoCal regional play.
Highlighting individual talent is FRC’s Chloe Albiez, the 2024 tournament MVP and AVCA first team All-American. Nine of the 12 players named to the 2025 all-state team will compete at the tournament.
New to the field are San Joaquin Delta, making its 20th state appearance but still chasing its first championship after three runner-up finishes, and South No. 3 Santa Monica, returning for the first time since 1994.
The tournament features five recent state champions: Feather River (2019, 2022, 2024), Mesa (2023), and Fresno City (2021). Northern California teams have dominated recently, winning eight of the last 11 titles.
Folsom Lake College hosts the tournament for the first time since 2009, when Delta last served as a Big 8 Conference venue.
