Rodriguez’s Three Touchdowns Lead Golden Eagles Past Coalinga, 69–35

Nason Rodriguez (Reno, NV) rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns on just four carries as Feather River College defeated Coalinga, 69–35, Saturday, September 26, at Memorial Bowl.

The Golden Eagles generated 599 yards of offense, including 435 rushing yards, and scored 35 points in the second quarter to build a 48–7 halftime lead. Rodriguez fueled the surge with touchdown runs of 51, 68 and 80 yards, all before halftime.

Quarterback Kayden Leaf (Red Bluff, CA) completed 9 of 13 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns while adding 55 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries.

Jamariyen Farmer (Memphis, TN) led the receiving attack with four catches for 89 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown reception. Marcellus Clay (Boise, ID) opened the scoring with a 34-yard touchdown run and later caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Leaf.

Feather River finished with seven rushing touchdowns and three passing scores. Connor Parsons (Reno, NV) and Prentes III Boxx (Yuma, AZ) each added a rushing touchdown, while Zach Clarke (Reno, NV) caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rothenberg (Chico, CA). Donovan Damiano (Spokane, WA) converted nine extra points.

Defensively, Tyrn Sam (Lovelock, NV) led the Golden Eagles with 11 tackles and returned an interception 37 yards. Mafua Matthews-Mafua (Las Vegas, NV) intercepted two passes for 55 return yards and added four tackles and a pass breakup.

Sue Pulalasi (Reno, NV) contributed nine tackles. Joel Ngoma (Saginaw, TX) recorded five tackles, including a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss, while Dawson Gubler (Sparks, NV) added a sack.

The Golden Eagles improved to 3–1 with their third consecutive victory. FRC averaged 12 yards per offensive play and converted six of eight third-down opportunities.

Feather River returns to action Saturday, October 3, when the Golden Eagles travel to face Cabrillo College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. PDT.
