The Quincy Junior-Senior High School Trojans varsity softball team finished its season undefeated in league play, achieving a 10-0 record.

On May 8, Quincy entered their last league game of the 2026 season against the Williams Yellowjackets with 11 straight wins. During that streak, the Trojans outscored opponents by an average of 9.3 runs per game. This momentum carried them through to another strong performance.

Coaches described the season as remarkable for such a young and small team. The Trojans have no senior players and only 10 athletes on the roster.

Before beating the Yellowjackets, the team faced tough competition in a two-game home series against the Hamilton Braves. The first game went into extra innings, ending with a walk-off by freshman Charlotte Wade in the ninth inning. The Trojans then won the second game 6-5 in 6.5 innings.

Other key league wins include decisive victories over county rivals Portola Tigers, with scores of 15-0 and 11-3, and wins against the 2025 CIF NorCal Division V champions Biggs Wolverines, 6-1 and 10-4.

Sophomore pitcher and batter Jemma Trueblood stood out as a key player. She recorded at least five strikeouts in every appearance and led the team in batting average and RBIs.

Freshman Charlotte Wade led the team with eight stolen bases, while teammate Megan Beatley showed strong defense with a .994 fielding percentage as catcher.

The team’s overall batting average was .345, with an on-base percentage of .406. Wade, Marleigh Merino, and Beatley contributed significantly behind Trueblood.

Assistant coach Jason Newton praised the team’s determination and commitment, noting they weren’t even sure they would field a team at the season’s start. Head coach Ron James echoed this, highlighting the hard work that led to their undefeated league record.

The Trojans’ next challenge comes with the CIF Northern Section Division V playoffs. Head coach James will attend the seeding meeting on May 13. Games start May 19 in a traditional bracket format, with the highest seed hosting each match. MaxPreps.com currently ranks Quincy as the No. 2 seed.

What can this young team achieve in the playoffs? Their season shows they have the drive and skill to compete at a high level. You can follow their progress as they aim to carry their undefeated streak deeper into the postseason.
