Plumas Charter School reports that the Warriors have opened their football season with a 2-1 record, showing grit, teamwork and community spirit both on and off the field.

The highlight of the season so far came during Homecoming week, when the Warriors hosted Westwood in Greenville. The stands were packed with fans cheering not only for the team but also for the return of beloved community traditions, said PCS: “As the Warriors continue their season, they carry not only a winning record but also the spirit of a community that rallies behind them every step of the way.”

On the field

The Warriors offense has proven powerful, racking up points early in the season. In their matchup against Westwood, Plumas Charter’s athletes executed sharp plays and strong drives, keeping the pressure on their rivals and energizing the Homecoming crowd, beating the Lumberjacks with a final score of 44-6.

Earlier wins, including a decisive victory over Herlong, have set the tone for a promising season, said PCS. The Warriors’ only loss came in a hard-fought battle against Sierra Lutheran that underscored areas for growth, but the team’s momentum remains strong.

Homecoming spirit

PCS reported that Homecoming week brought the community together with a range of activities. Students raised funds for the associated student body with a powderpuff football game and a boys’ volleyball game. A parade in downtown Greenville ended in front of the new American Legion building, where the color guard opened a pep rally filled with Warrior pride. The Indian Valley Academy concert band performed alongside Chester students.

The Indian Valley Riding and Roping Club joined the opening ceremonies. During halftime, Lucy Joseph presented the student-citizenship award to Gwen Graham. Joseph was last year’s recipient of the award. The family of Greenville High School class of 1978 graduate Patty McCutcheon, who recently passed, was honored for her lasting impact.

New cheer team takes the field

This year also marks the debut of the Warriors’ new cheerleading squad, made up of 10 junior high and high school students. They were joined by Greenville Elementary School cheerleaders in rooting on the team.
