Modoc County Young Boxer Messiah Maes Aims for Glory at 2025 Junior Olympic Nationals

Twelve-year-old Messiah Maes, an impressive amateur boxer from Modoc County, has qualified for the 2025 Junior Olympic National Championships in Las Vegas, where he aims to secure a national title. With five years of boxing experience and over 40 fights, he currently holds the No. 8 ranking in the nation for his age and weight division.

In 2024, Maes earned a bronze medal at the USA Junior Olympics, finishing sixth in the country. He recently competed in the United States Championships in Richmond, Virginia, reaching the quarterfinals. A significant achievement came three months ago when he defeated a former U.S. champion by unanimous decision, a victory that solidified his place in this year’s Junior Olympic Nationals.

With aspirations to reach the top ranking, Maes is focused on representing Modoc County and advancing his career in the national boxing arena.
