Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship is set for the 27th annual Downieville Classic on August 9 and 10 in Downieville, California. This event draws 900 racers to compete in one of the few remaining point-to-point cross-country races in the U.S., featuring the renowned Downieville Downhill.

Volunteers are needed for various tasks, especially in Sierra City on August 9, where they will assist with road closures, trash and recycling management, and bike checks. Volunteers will receive a free event T-shirt, socks, and meals during their shifts. Opportunities to volunteer are available for those interested.

While the All Mountain event categories are sold out, entries for the XC race remain open. This race, starting in Sierra City, includes a challenging climb to the Sierra Crest followed by an exhilarating descent back to Downieville, totaling 4,500 feet of climbing and 7,000 feet of descending.

In addition to the races, the weekend will feature a mountain festival with activities such as swimming, the River Jump competition, the Log Pull World Championship, and live music from Boot Juice.
