Feather River College earned a pair of road victories Tuesday afternoon as the women defeated American River College 1–0 before the men completed the sweep with a 3–2 comeback win.
Women’s Soccer: Feather River 1, American River 0
The women’s match remained scoreless through the opening half before Feather River broke through in the 61st minute.
Olivia Cortez scored the match’s only goal, finishing an opportunity created by Saydi Reyes to put the Golden Eagles ahead 1–0.
That goal proved to be enough behind another strong defensive performance. Goalkeeper Flor Lopez made four saves over the full 90 minutes to record her second consecutive shutout.
Feather River has now won three consecutive matches, outscoring its opponents 5–0 during that stretch.
Men’s Soccer: Feather River 3, American River 2
The men overcame a pair of first-half deficits to earn their fourth consecutive victory.
American River opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but Feather River answered in the 27th when Yaphet Daryl Assafuah scored from an assist by Pablo Guevara-Mangas.
The Beavers regained the lead just before halftime, sending the Golden Eagles into the break trailing 2–1.
Feather River responded immediately after the restart. Tim Van Lottum scored the equalizer in the 47th minute following an assist from Reabetswe Makgopa.
Guevara-Mangas then delivered the deciding goal in the 57th minute, converting Assafuah’s assist to give Feather River its first lead of the match.
Goalkeeper Robin Liechti made six saves as the Golden Eagles protected the one-goal advantage through the final whistle.
