Feather River College Women’s Basketball is proud to announce the addition of A’ajah Slocum as the program’s new assistant coach. A dynamic former collegiate guard with strong ties to California basketball, Slocum brings a competitive mindset, leadership experience, and a proven track record of success to the Golden Eagles.
A native of Fresno, California, Slocum most recently competed at California State University, Monterey Bay, where she made an impact as a versatile guard, contributing in scoring, rebounding, and playmaking while serving as a leader on and off the court.
Prior to her NCAA career, Slocum had an outstanding junior college career at Merced College, where she earned First Team All-Central Valley Conference honors and was named Third Team All-State. She was a consistent offensive threat and all-around performer, showcasing her ability to lead and compete at a high level.
Slocum’s basketball journey is deeply connected to Head Coach Ashley Chavira, having played for Chavira at multiple levels. She played at Merced College during Chavira’s time on staff as an assistant coach and also competed for Chavira at Hoover High School in Fresno. This long-standing relationship brings a strong foundation of trust, familiarity, and shared expectations to the Feather River program.
“A’ajah is someone I’ve had the opportunity to coach and mentor for years,” said Head Coach Ashley Chavira. “She understands the standard, the work ethic, and the culture we are building. She’s a competitor, a leader, and someone who truly cares about developing student-athletes on and off the court.”
Beyond her on-court accomplishments, Slocum was recognized for her academic excellence, earning CCAA All-Academic honors, demonstrating her commitment to success both in the classroom and in competition.
Slocum’s experience as a high-level competitor, combined with her passion for mentoring and developing players, makes her a valuable addition to the Golden Eagles coaching staff. She will play a key role in player development, recruiting, and continuing to build a strong foundation for Feather River College Women’s Basketball
