1942-2026
On January 3rd, 2026, Timothy Alan Abbott, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at age 83, in Susanville California.
Tim was born on August 15, 1942 in Vallejo, California to Patricia and Richard Abbott. In 1961 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Button Abbott. Together they had three children, Tim, Renn and Brandi. He took great pride in being a husband and a father. He and his wife began raising their family in Chico and eventually relocated to Susanville in 1972.
Tim had a wonderful career as a fire captain in the forest service as well as being a general contractor in the Susanville area. He had the privilege of building many of the beautiful homes that we see in Susanville today. Some of his favorite things to do were, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. One thing that brought him the greatest joy was serving his God, Jehovah. Tim dedicated himself as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1969. He loved serving as a shepherd for the congregation and he had a full share in preaching the good news in the community.
Tim was known for his kind heart and gentle disposition. He was a compassionate man who was always ready to help when needed. His family and friends will miss his sweet smile, his kind words, and his ability to find the perfect scripture to offer encouragement. In his last days he was surrounded by his family and he took his last breathe with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Button Abbott, his three children, Tim (Pam) Abbott, Renn (Christina) Abbott, Brandi (Rich) Hadley, Grandchildren, Andrea Wilson, Brandalin (Erik) Taylor, Trevor Abbott, Austin Jones, Brett and Wesley Guard, and Stepbrother Ronnie Selkirk. He is preceded in death by his Mother Patricia, Father Richard, Brother Dicky Abbott, and step-sister Kathy Selkirk.
