Cecil Ray Fain
1937-2025

Cecil Ray Fain was born on November 30, 1937, in Susanville, California shortly after his parents, James Arthur Fain and his mother, Meda Blanche Zinnamon Fain moved to Susanville. He passed away on 14 November 2025 at the age of 87 in Susanville, California. He grew up in Susanville and spent many happy days with his friends. He graduated from Lassen High School in 1956.
He found he loved driving logging truck for his father. He married Sally Ann Stewart on 30 August 1958 in Reno, Nevada. Cecil was a peace time drafted into the US Army on 30 November 1959 and served for two years. He was released from active duty on February 1961 and served in the Inactive Reserve until July 4, 1964. Cecil and Sally had three children together, a daughter, Sheila Kay, a son, Darin Ray, and a daughter, Gaylene Marie. They divorce in 1998. He then married Babe Joelene Pierce on November 24, 1990, in Reno, Nevada. Cecil worked for more than 44 years at Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, California serving many positions, truck driver, license examiner, supervisor in the Motor Pool, and finally Transportation Specialist. He truly enjoyed his job. He was active in the American Federation of Government Employees, serving as Chief Union Stewart and vice President. He was a Volunteer Fireman at the Susanville Fire Department. He was a little league Coach for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Loel Dee Fain, his son, Darin Ray Fain, his youngest daughter Gaylene Marie Chandler. He is survived by his wife Babe Joelene Fain, three stepdaughters, Angie Diane Pierce and her husband Stephen Puzzelo, Amy Lynnette Pierce and Jennifer Tina Howard and her husband Jason Howard and their daughter Jiahna Jayna Howard. He is also survived by his oldest daughter Sheila Kay Nixon, and grandchildren, Tanya Nixon, Garrett Nixon, Jamie Jacques and Greg, Amanda Main and Mike, Joshua Lee Chandler, Nicole Marie Chandler, Samantha Renee Chandler, and numerous grandchildren.
