United Airlines is recovering from a technology outage that temporarily grounded all flights on Wednesday night. As of Thursday, the airline expects to resume a normal schedule, although residual delays and cancellations persist. A United spokesperson confirmed that the underlying issue has been resolved.
As of 9:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, FlightAware reported that United had canceled 154 flights, approximately 4% of its total schedule, with an additional 179 flights delayed. The airline classified the service disruptions as “controllable,” meaning affected passengers may be entitled to protections and compensation. United stated that it has covered customer expenses, such as hotel accommodations, when applicable.
