The Zip book program comes to the Lassen Library District. The library has been approved for a 6,000 dollar grant from the Library Services and Technology Act grant. Zip books allows readers to request a book that the library does not have, and then the library will purchase it and have it shipped directly to you. When you are finished with the book you return it to the library and librarians will choose to add it to the library’s collection. Lassen Library said this is a very popular program and is an excellent way to broaden their inventory. Books up to 50 dollars or audio books up to 75 dollars are eligible through the program, videos and DVD’s are not. Also participating in the program are both the Plumas and Modoc libraries. The Zip book program will be funded through June of this year and you can find out more about how to use the program by visiting your local library.
