What could have ended in tragedy ends in a wife being reunited with her husband after she went missing into the woods off Clear Lake Road in Modoc County.
The 71-year-old woman was deer scouting with her husband when she found herself unable to relocate him.
The Modoc Sheriff’s Office received the call around 3 p.m. this past Thursday, August 24th, and quickly dispatched the search & rescue K-9 team to the reported location along with two deputies.
The United States Forest Service (USFS) also joined the search, deploying fire crews, side-by-sides, and a dedicated law enforcement officer. Further support was extended by Cal Fire, which contributed essential resources, including a helicopter, a drone, and additional fire crews.
Yet within three hours of the search efforts, the teams were made aware that the missing woman had found her way out to the main road and was picked up by a family member.
She was evaluated at the scene for injuries and reunited with her husband.
The Sheriff’s office extended their gratitude to Cal Fire, the US FS Fire & Law Enforcement for their quick response.
