Winter Storm Warning for Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties- Including the cities of Portola and Susanville

The heaviest snow and rain arrival is expected today with a total snow accumulation of 4 to 10 inches along and east of Highway 395. There is 8 to 18 inches expected west of 395 below 5500 feet, and 2 to 5 feet west of Highway 395 above 5500 feet. You can expect winds gusting as high as 50 mph at times along the hwy. This weather is expected to impact the area until 4 o’clock tomorrow. You should plan ahead as Travel could be very difficult to impossible due to heavy snow and localized whiteout conditions, especially by tonight when the heaviest snowfall is expected. Winds may damage tree branches and fences and you’ll need to secure those Frosty and Santa inflatable decorations to prevent them from blowing away. For Susanville that lies lower than 5000 feet, the town will see mainly rain through the evening until temperatures drop overnight.
