CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc personnel responded to a wildland fire this morning off of Ward Lake Rd in Litchfield. The fire burned approximately 9.5 acres of vegetation and spread into a haystack before it was fully contained. The fire originated from an illegal burn conducted during a burn ban. The resident on the property was written a citation for 4 violations. Resources from the following agencies assisted with the incident: California Correctional Center Fire Department, Janesville Fire District, Litchfield Town Standish-Litchfield Fire Department, and Lake Forest Fire Protection District. Hat Creek Construction Company also volunteered to assist with suppression efforts near the Hat Creek gravel pit.
