On June 30th at approximately 7:30pm, Engine 621 from Susanville Fire Department responded to the area of Pat Murphy Field for a report of vegetation fire. Upon arrival E621 reported the fire was burning near the river behind the community garden. The fire was approximately 30 fee by 60 feet, with multiple spot fires leading to the west. The fire had a slow rate of spread in the light fuel . Unites from SFD and CalFire made a quick stop to the fire’s forward progression, and all unites assisted with mop-up.
E621, Susanville Police Department, and CalFire Prevention began an investigation, which is still in progress. There were no firefighters or civilian injuries, SFD would like to thank the support of CalFire and the Susanville Police Department for their assistant.
