In the new year, mailing a letter will cost you more.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has notified the Postal Regulatory Commission that it will raise a stamp’s price by 2 cents.
What has steadily been increasing each year since 2016 and even twice this year, stamps will now cost you 68 cents for a one-ounce letter. Postcards will also increase in the new year to 53 cents, and international letters and postcards will jump by 5 cents.
The cause the USPS cites is inflationary pressures on operating expenses.
The stamp hike is expected to take effect on January 21st.
