With fast approaching below-freezing overnight temperatures, the Plumas County Sheriff’s office is urgently searching for a missing 35-year-old man around the Portola area.

Sunday afternoon, a neighbor reported that they believed Anthony Evans, who lived next door, was potentially missing. Family members also confirmed he had been missing for two days. However, they say it is not uncommon for him to be absent for days at a time.
Yet deputies persisted in their investigations and discovered Anthony’s vehicle at a nearby family member’s home, just about five miles west of Portola.

PCSO personnel conducted an initial search of the area, but the help of Plumas’s search and rescue team joined, scanning multiple areas in the vicinity where Anthony could be. These efforts continued for two days without any success.

Authorities say they are moving forward treating Anthony’s missing as intentional, yet say as resources and search operations allow, they will continue to assist in locating him.

Anthony is described as a white male, standing about 5’ 9” tall and weighing 150lbs.

If you have any information about where Anthony may be, you are asked to contact the Plumas Sheriff’s Office immediately at (530)283-6300.
